Background:
Efon Alaaye town is located in the hilly southwestern edge of Ekiti State. It is currently served by a Water Treatment facility that has now become inadequate in quantum and coverage. The water source is the Oni River, which has been found to be perennial and able to support a flow rate of 500 m 3 /hour.
This plant with a capacity of 6 million litres per day now provides sufficient water for the immediate and future requirements of Efon and its sprawling suburbs.
EKSG MDG’s Requirements
One main objective of the MDG’s is to improve access to potable water to 75% of the populace.
Facilities Provided
KEMENG has designed, constructed and installed a 300,000litres/hour treatment plant to produce good quality, wholesome potable water from the Oni river and pump same to the hill-top reservoir to serve the Efon Alaaye community. The plant has a 432,000 litre sedimentation tank, 4 giant pressure filter vessels, pumping facilities and a standard water laboratory. The plant also incorporates a state of the art control panel and float switches in all relevant tanks to ensure safe, automatic operation of the plant.
Power supply is guaranteed with the installation of a 350 KVA generating set for the plant.
